A WORD FROM THE PRESIDENT:
Hello Everyone!! Saturday March 14th 2009 was a momentous day. Several things happened to further the work of what we are doing here in Atlanta and abroad through other Fuller Center Covenant Partners.
At 9:00 AM we had a Dedication of the Nash Family Home and at 10:45 we had our second Dedication of the day at the Scott Family Home. Both these homes were damaged in the tornado of March 14th, 2008. Being the 1 year anniversary of the tornado there was much interest by the media as to what we were doing. We were interviewed on WSB Radio, there was a good article in the AJC this last saturday that you can read. All four networks had some coverage of the storm and the need still around Atlanta.
We still do have people on a waiting list for home repairs from the tornado and we need more donations. Millard Fuller always said about raising funds; "I've tried it by asking and I've tried it without and I always seem to raise more when I ask". So folks I am asking you the same thing, we need your help, won't you give something?
Saturday was also the Memorial Service & Life Celebration of Millard Fuller, Founder of Habitat for Humanity and The Fuller Center for Housing. The Service was rightfully held at Ebenezer Baptist Church in downtown Atlanta. To see the event click here. It will make you laugh, it will make you cry, it will make you proud and maybe wonder why? When Millard first passed I momentarily asked myself why? And when a friend of mine called me and asked "did I hear the news" and then asked "what is going to happen to The Fuller Center? Is it going to go on???" Right then and there I had to decide for myself. "Is what Millard Fuller & The Fuller Center stands for going continue in my life?" My answer is YES!! So my friends that's what I want to close with is this... Is what Millard Fuller & The Fuller Center stands for and represents going to start or continue in your life? I encourage you to get involved by helping to spread the word, help raise donations and help start a Fuller Center in your Community!!
